Do I have to be a good swimmer to join the team? No, all you need is to be able to swim one pool length of freestyle and backstroke. Our programs are designed for swimmers of all levels.

How much does it cost? Our annual dues vary based on the group placement of the swimmer. This can be paid in one payment or divided up over the course of a 9 month billing cycle. There is also a yearly USA/VA swimming registration fee of $115 which includes a team shirt and cap. We also offer a multi-swimmer discount to our members. All Raiders swimmers are required to be YMCA members and will receive a discounted rate when joining the team.

What about meets? As part of USA and VA swimming the Raiders Swim Club participates in regular competitive swim meets. These meets are held on the weekends and are within 2 hours of our home pool. Participation in meets is optional, but highly recommended for swimmers who are looking to improve their performance in the water. There are additional fees associated with these meets.

What if I’m involved in another sport? Many of our swimmers participate in other activities, too. Our practices are scheduled to allow for more opportunities to participate in other activities.

Where are practices held? Practices are held at the King George County YMCA.

May I join any time? Yes, you may join the team any time throughout the year.
